PPS Continues Its Journey Toward Net Zero 2030, Reinforcing Eight Years of Commitment to Sustainability
Project Planning Service Public Company Limited, or PPS, began its carbon management journey in 2018, at a time when carbon emissions and climate responsibility were not yet widely discussed within the engineering consultancy sector.
The journey began with a simple belief: as a company that advises clients and contributes to the development of construction projects, PPS should first understand and take responsibility for the environmental impacts of its own operations before promoting sustainability practices to clients and other stakeholders.
Over the past eight years, carbon management at PPS has involved much more than establishing policies or announcing targets. It requires consistent and detailed work, including collecting electricity bills, reviewing fuel consumption records, analysing organisational activities, and questioning existing working practices to identify practical opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
There are no shortcuts. Meaningful progress can only be achieved through accurate data, continuous improvement, and the willingness to examine how the organisation operates.
PPS believes that achieving its Net Zero ambition depends on two essential factors.
1. Employee Understanding
Employees must understand why the organisation collects environmental data and changes its working practices—not simply that these actions are required.
Following instructions without understanding may produce data and figures, but it does not create meaningful or lasting change. Building knowledge, awareness, and employee participation is therefore essential to embedding sustainability throughout every level of the organisation.
2. Tone from the Top
Leadership commitment is equally important. If senior management views sustainability as an additional or temporary task, employees are likely to see it in the same way.
A Net Zero target can only remain meaningful when leaders continue to provide direction, support implementation, review progress, and actively participate year after year—long after the initial announcements, campaigns, and photo opportunities have ended.
Our Goal: Net Zero by 2030
PPS has set a target to achieve Net Zero by 2030. With four years remaining, the organisation will continue its work by improving data quality, refining operational processes, reducing resource consumption, and strengthening a corporate culture based on environmental responsibility.
The work ahead may not always be highly visible or exciting. It consists largely of disciplined, continuous actions whose results may take time to emerge. Nevertheless, PPS remains committed to moving forward, regardless of whether the journey is recognised through awards or certificates.
“A certificate is not the goal. It is simply evidence that we are still on the journey.”
PPS will continue to create change from within the organisation, reduce its environmental impact, and contribute to a more sustainable future for society and generations to come.
